Kewaunee County Garden Club
Education Information
KEWAUNEE COUNTY GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
The Kewaunee County Garden Club has available to qualified
applicants scholarships in the amount of 500.00 per year. The scholarships will
be awarded to students pursuing a degree/certificate in the field of horticulture.
The scholarship will be for one year. Applicants may reapply
each year with a maximum receipt of 2000.00 per school career.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be a resident of Kewaunee County.
2. Must be enrolled or accepted in a technical school, college, or
university and will pursue a degree in the field of horticulture.
3. 10 hours of approved community service work in the field of
horticulture. Some suggestions include: Volunteering to help with the Garden
Club plant sale, yard work at a church, library, city/county gardening
projects, yard work for the elderly. There are many places that could use an
extra pair of hands. Please feel free to come up with your own ideas. The hours
must be completed before scholarship payout time. Please include your plan
with your application.
4. Must meet all deadlines and requirements of the scholarship
application in order to be considered.
SELECTION BASIS
The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
1. Completion of the application and all requirements.
2. Two (2) written recommendations that support the applicant’s interest/commitment to horticulture.
3. 10 hours of approved community service work in the field of
horticulture. Some suggestions include: Volunteering to help with the Garden
Club plant sale, yard work at a church, library, city/county gardening
projects, yard work for the elderly. There are many places that could use an
extra pair of hands. Please feel free to come up with your own ideas. If you
would like specific suggestions please contact a member of the Kewaunee Garden
Club. The hours must be completed before scholarship payout time. Please
include your plan with your application.
SELECTION PROCESS
A selection committee of the Kewaunee County Garden Club
will make the recommendation to the club based on the above-required criteria
and information provided by the applicant.
Because of the unique criteria listed, the selection
committee reserves the right by majority vote to not award a scholarship in any
given year if the criteria listed is not met.
